Remember when we used to read!?
Inspiration away from the digital
The irony that I’m musing about this with you on social media is not lost on me 🙉 but here we are!
First things first, watch this 👇🏼
It’s a good question right!
How can we get inspired away from our devices, especially when all our work is so on phone and computer!
Starting my small business really woke me up to this concept.
Opshopulence is all about elevating second hand into first class chic and I’m a details girlie so my packaging has thoughtful personal touches, including making Thank you cards from my vintage Vogue magazines - a great way to save money, use what I have and create something unique, so my customers feel special
Taking the time to create the cards has been such a cathartic craft-ernoon, diving into late 90’s and Y2k editorials and soaking up designer aesthetics from these eras so interesting. The covers are a vibe too
And I was reminded how good the ‘More Dash Than Cash’ Vogue series is. It launched in the 70’s and schooled readers on how to achieve a stylish look with a limited budget, focusing on style and creativity over expensive items aka OPSHOPULENCE!
It got my inspiration bursting again so much that I think I might have to start a series on my You Tube Channel.
It’s made me go back into my own archives too!
Looking at old DIY’s, outfits and clever tips and tricks, which I had forgotten about. I’ve been taking more ‘thrift therapy walks’, stopping in at little bookstores and noticing style on the street, all such powerful digi-free exercises I highly recommend…and when you do go back to your devices I hope you feel a renewed sense of self, not so fed to by the masses
P.S.
I’d love you to check out the Opshopulence ‘newness’ that has dropped this week 👇🏼
I source everything by hand with lots of love and care 💚♻️
May the thrift angels always bless you
💋
